We were able to make a quick trip to Utah before school started. We did so much in the three days that we were there.

One of my favorite movies is "Something Gotta Give". But not be

cause it's story line, but because of the gorgeous house Diane Keaton's character lives in. First off it's in the Hamptons. If we ever make it out to New York I want to go to Barefoot Contessa and this house. I love the colors, so light a breeze. I have tried to make my kitchen similar to this one,

White cabinets and black counter tops.  Look at all the room to store my collection of cookbooks. I serious addiction I have.

And finally......someday a pool that I can relax by. Of course, I would like to think I could get a tan, but really who am I fooling, so I guess the relaxing will be in the shade.

{the windy city}

I learned why Chicago is called the windy city,  a reported called it that because of the long winded politicians Chicago had back in the day. Anyways....it was unbelievable. I wasn't there long enough so we definitely need to go there again. Thanks for all the suggest on where to go. I had a great time. Thank you so much Chris, Granny Suez, Grandpa, and J. I needed the break. I spent a lot of time on Michigan Ave. shopping. But here are few of my favorite things that happened.

I made a trip out to visit the Harpo Studios. Yes, Chris mocked me that I visited the "Church of Oprah". But it was fun. Next time I want to go to a taping. Maybe it would be "Oprah's favorite things" show. Christine and Bea let me know when we are going.

I think one of my favorite places to see was the American Girl Place. I never had an American Girl doll, but it was so fun. I little girls heaven. I told Ashley that if she reads all the books we can go to the one in L.A. All the dads and brothers were sitting one the couches, while the mothers and little girls shopped. I had heard about how fabulous it was but I was there for an

 hour by myself. It was three floors. They have a movie theater, cafe, doll salon, and hospital. Ashley wants a look-a-like doll. We found a cute one with freckles. I can hardly wait to go.

Chicago is so neat. I love the river flowing through it. We took the water taxi a few times. It was so relaxing.

Of course Chris had a coupon for the Sears Tower. It was $20 bucks a person to go to the top. Once we got to the top all I could think about was 9-11. It's 102 floors. I swear it was swaying back and forth which made for a really quick trip.

The last night we were there Chris had gotten us tickets to Wicked. We had looked into getting Cub Tickets but they were away. So we got to go to Wicked. I can't say enough about it. Chris even liked it. We are going again in February. I also want to take the girls some time. I know Leah would love Ga-linda.

Things have been crazy lately. It must be summer coming to an end and we're trying to fit everything in before school starts. But I have a few things to blog about. I should say that blogging for me it not only a good way to keep in touch with others, but a good way to journal. So with that said....I have a few things to journal about.

Last Friday we got to go to the John Mayer concert with some friends. It was a blast. The concert was outside and the weather was perfect. A warm summer night. We brought a picnic for Amy's birthday. Everyone helped and it was so nice to chat and relax. While we were eating, Alan ran into a friend from high school. Alan and I went to junior high together (although we didn't know each other). I moved in 8th grade but we do know some people in common. So when Alan said where his friend was from I checked it out. But I didn't know him. So I went back to chatting. Then I noticed Alan's friend's wife. It was Liz. A good friend from 6th grade. I hadn't seen her in 20 years, but she looked the same. I couldn't believe it. She recognized me too. It was so weird, I couldn't get over it. She now lives about 20 minutes from me. And we both have little one year old red-heads. We went to exchange info and no one had a pencil or paper. But luckily a women overheard us and helped out. It was such a great evening. And I got to reconnect with a friend I hadn't seen in 20 years. Man, I'm old.
